You can find your friends by searching under location and clicking on "Users" on the left-hand side of the screen. A list of local users will appear, and after identifying your friend, you will be able to add him/her by clicking the link "Add as friend". If they aren't on the site yet, invite them! You can invite them from your home page or go here.
